3Com® Switch 8800 PoE DIMM Modules
Enables Power over Ethernet (PoE) on PoE-capable modules for the 3Com Switch 8800
The 3Com Switch 8800 PoE Option (PoE DIMM Module) enables Power over Ethernet capability on certain interface modules for the 3Com Switch 8800, including the 48-Port 10/100/1000BASE-T Module and the 48-Port 10/100/1000BASE-T Access Module.
With the addition of the PoE DIMM Module, either of these Gigabit Ethernet interface modules is easily upgraded to provide industry-standard IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet to attached devices that also have PoE capability.
This module is part of a unique system design that allows the 3Com Switch 8800 to provide an easy migration to Power over Ethernet for both new and existing systems for the highest levels of investment protection.
Providing both electrical power and network connectivity to devices such as IP phones and wireless LAN access points, PoE simplifies network deployment and reduces installation and maintenance costs by eliminating the need for separate data and power cabling infrastructures.
